Lateral II is a car we rescued from an ad on
E-bay. The car was local, and is typical of cars that you'll find
in Southern California these days: clapped out, needing a lot of
help, but thankfully spared from significant rust and structural
damage. This car was a mess filled with spare parts never to be
used, trash, grease and grime, but is a really solid example and was
a really easy decision to transform into a very special car. We
intend not only on using this car to develop specific suspension
solutions for second gen F bodies, but also to serve as a flagship
for our company. This car will get the full on frame off type
treatment, including a mini-tub job, new quarters, and a complete
resto-transformation of all aspects of the car. This car will only
be considered a success when it has proven itself on the Southern
California road courses with "exceptional" laptimes and
drive-ability.
To date, the car has been completely stripped,
new qtr panels installed, mini-tubbed, and a street-friendly roll
cage installed. The Lateral Dynamics 3-Link rear suspension has
been fitted to the car, and the new Lateral Dynamics front
suspension design is being prototyped. Plans are still not set in
stone for which type of powerplant will be used, but target output
requirements are in the 750 HP range. The car will wear 305/18
front tires, and 335/18 rears.
